घटना रिपोर्टिंग यह सुनिश्चित करती है कि साइबर सुरक्षा घटनाओं का दस्तावेज़ीकरण हो और उन्हें लागू कानूनों और संविदात्मक दायित्वों के अनुसार आवश्यक होने पर उपयुक्त आंतरिक हितधारकों, नियामक निकायों और कानून प्रवर्तन एजेंसियों तक पहुँचाया जाए। रिपोर्टों में घटना की समयरेखा, प्रभावित सिस्टम और डेटा, की गई रोकथाम कार्रवाइयाँ, मूल कारण विश्लेषण और सुधारात्मक कदम शामिल होने चाहिए। संगठनों को सभी लागू रिपोर्टिंग आवश्यकताओं के बारे में जागरूक रहना होगा, जिनमें HIPAA के ब्रीच नोटिफ़िकेशन नियम, महत्वपूर्ण बुनियादी ढाँचे के लिए CISA की रिपोर्टिंग आवश्यकताएँ और ग्राहकों तथा साझेदारों के साथ संविदात्मक SLA प्रतिबद्धताएँ जैसे क्षेत्र-विशिष्ट नियम शामिल हैं।
